11 Days out in BorderlandsMainline buses on the Lancashire -Yorkshire border
Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Foulridge (Photo: © Transport for Leisure Ltd) The old Borderlands, between the historic counties of Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire - now North and West Yorkshire - lie along the valleys and catchment streams of the Ribble, Aire and Lancashire Calder rivers. On the edge of the South Pennines, Forest of Bowland and Yorkshire Dales, they contain some surprisingly lovely, if less well known, countryside, as well as fascinating towns and villages, rich in history and heritage.
(Photo: © Veolia Transdev) This area, between Burnley, Clitheroe, Skipton and Keighley, is served by a fleet of modern low floor buses, operated by Mainline, which links the towns, villages with several heritage attractions and a choice of wonderful walks. For details of what to do and see, look out for the free Days out in Borderlands booklet available at bus stations and tourist centres in the area.
